Ostmark

Wholesale bread, viennoiserie, and pastry for western Pennsylvania.

Ostmark operates a production bakery in Pittsburgh and supplies bread, viennoiserie, and pastry to roughly two hundred restaurants, hotels, and grocers within a two-hour drive. The product list is short and disciplined: six breads, four viennoiserie, three pastry items, rotated by season.

The bakery runs seven nights a week. Mixing begins at nine in the evening, the first ovens load at one in the morning, and routes leave the building between four and five. The company has hired carefully, paid down its original debt, and grown roughly fifteen percent a year for nine years.

Ostmark is the smallest business in the Barlow portfolio by revenue. We are happy to be part of it.
